Gents,

Given what's happened with lever gun prices over the last year or so, this might be a fool's errand... but I'm slowly starting to look for a 30-30 that will get cut down for a child to use. Preference is a 336 but open to other brands/models, including single shots. Needs to be drilled/tapped. Not looking for safe queens, expensive rifles, or other chamberings. Please shoot me a PM if you've got something to chat about.

Thanks y'all.

Marlin made a 336 youth ( someone here should know what it's actually called, I can't remember). I believe it only came in 30-30. I've seen two for sale at a local gun shop in the last year. One was 350 and the other was 400. No cutting involved. Im pretty sure they were all D/T.

Can't you put on a thick "Slip-on" butt pad for a season or two. I'd hate to cut down a stock on a rifle that is getting harder and harder to find?

Check Midway USA. they list several that might work.

Have seen the youth models online but not in any of our local shops.

A slip-on pad would increase the LOP. I need to drastically reduce factory LOP.

I wonder if a Boyds rear stock replacement can be custom ordered for length.
