Does anyone have one? I was gifted one for Christmas, and I've played with it a little. Not completely blown away, but also not completely disappointed, looking to hear experiences from others.

My experience is similar to yours. It is a little awkward to use with the smaller knives in my opinion. It is mainly what I use for our kitchen knives. Works pretty well for those and is easy to store/set up for use.

In their video the user does not fully take advantage of angular displacement. Additionally, when cutting the tomato, the knife doesn’t appear to be very sharp. Lots of sharpening gadgets that’s for sure.

Get yourself a worksharp belt grinder
AND READ THE DIRECTIONS.
It's not rocket science

It's very easy if you pay attention to the angles.. I've been putting razor sharp edges on knives since I was 8 or 9 years old.

A good stone or two and a strop. I've sharpened axes I could shave hair off my arm.. It's not difficult.

Idahone Ceramic sticks are even easier and less likely to bugger your tip.

Most are retarded and have no concept

Watching them use a steel or a stone is a good way to put a number on their IQ

I’ve had I don’t know how many people come to me after using a Worksharp, saying they can’t get an edge. It’s because they misused the device and burnt the hell out of the blade, destroying the heat treat, softening the steel. “Sorry bud, you ruined your blade…”

Make dang sure you know how to use it before attempting to sharpen on that device.

The Ken Onion WorkSharp is genius. Belts from coarse to polishing and a way to match the the angle of the edge the particular knife already has. Perfect bevels on both sides the same width from heel to tip

After going through the process, putting the knife on a steel finishes it perfectly but they come off of the last belt like polished razors

For larger knives they are the bomb but I didnt have much luck on small EDC's.
Just took a while to get the correct angle and then it is a breeze.

"Just use stones at the correct angle! It's easy you slobs"

*man buys tools to ensure correct angle is achieved*

"No! Not like that!!"

Worksharp is quick and easy, but know that it provides a convex edge, not a flat bevel.

It’s a mini belt grinder, but not like a serious type where the belt is backed by a platen.

If you take the time it takes, it takes less time.

A real display of your own deficiencies.

I'd think you are old enough to have learned people are graced with
very different abilities in varying fields.

Some have never used hand tools, or just can't ever learn to master them.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit that your lawyer, accountant, insurance agent,
or other necessary professional can't sharpen a knife or saw free hand.
And yet he can run through stuff that leaves your head spinning.

Ever been around many educated folk?
Engineers are the stereotype.
Both brilliant and resembling a box of rocks. Simultaneously.

I know highly skilled metal workers, carpenters, and mechanics who can't
cross into the other fields.

Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
