Jimmy Fallon tagged our town as Weed Town a few years ago. The grow operation that was located in the old grocery store on Main Street has since closed.

My dad grew up south of Winterset in a little burg called Podunk Center. (Yes, it's real) It was referred to as The Hub of the World by the locals. For those who don't know, it was north of Lorimor, east of Macksburg and west of Barny. I hope that helps.

So... my "hometown ".... I have nothing...... one of my sister towns has a town slogan of "36 lakes within 6 miles." As a rival trying to degrad them I fact checked it.... come find out it was actually more then 36.... used to hate them for it, but now its something I rally behind.

I don't know......... "Our paper mill stinks less than Berlin's"? Bet I've been there. Have been to Berlin and Rumford, have hauled a lot of paper from the area. Yours still open? Mills are closed everywhere, most I used to haul out of are gone. Used to be 4 or 5 within 50 miles here, now the guys who still cut pulp wood are hauling it almost 150 miles, one way. Most of the wood is being sold as firewood, and somehow firewood keeps getting more expensive.
