I bought a couple boxes of .284 160 grain Speer Hot-Cor bullets to try in my Ruger tanger 7x57. Pushed at 2700ish fps, what would be the difference in performance in it and a Nosler partition pushed at the same velocity in elk sized game?

None that you would ever notice.

I wouldn’t think a whole lot at those speeds myself. Those were fairly tough bullets.

Deer will be dead with either one, people tend to overthink bullets.

I’ve used 150gr Hotcores out of a 270 on a number of elk. I’ve also used 150 gr PT’s on elk. I saw very little difference. The hot cores deformed a bit more but bullet weight loss was about the same.

One of my early favorite 7x57 bullets. Used with great success on feral hogs and deer until I got a great deal on a bunch of 150 grain Ballistic Tips from SPS. Finally shot all those up and now run the 145 gr. Speer BTSP.
