Was offered what I guess is a pretty good deal, $300, on a 48 Yugo in VG condition, not A Mitchell's. I had a Yugo 48 variant around ten years ago with a straight bolt handle that I got for $200 and traded it for a pretty nice Russian Capture K98. The Yugo was a good shooter and as I recall I thought it was a good solid rifle. Of the 47 and 48 Yugos which is considered the best, condition on all being equal?

Depends on the actual rifle. On the whole, the 48 series was less refined and often more difficult to operate.

I personally prefer the 24 series due to the overall smoother function of the action. So, assuming condition being equal, I'm inclined to select the 24 over the 48.

That said, if you find a 48 that functions as smoothly as a 24, get it. I've built a lot of rifles on both. When they are $89 I loved buying the 24/47's as they often had new barrels.

Converted a 47 to a 240 Weatherby. It's a nail driver.

Thanks to all for the info. Glad I asked. Based on this and a little research I think I'll wait for a good 24/47

The m24/47 is for sure a smoother action than the usual M48. In saying that the M48 BO (export model with no markings) were better built than the m48 and m48a and found them to be pretty smooth. Mine were very accurate.
