Probable move from Texas to Georgia. Small household but 15-20 long guns and that many revolvers having a modest degree of collectability.

How did you do it?

I’d buy some extra soft side cases whatever is the cheapest that you can find for the rifles. For the handguns place them in a tote and wrapped in foam.

I have no idea if that’s the most efficient method. My moves have always been short enough for multiple trips. Just thinking off of the top of my head.

Moving in and around humid areas, be careful leaving guns in any kind of case for any period of time. Wiping them down with a silicone or oil cloth will help…

Grab a bottle of bourbon and a tank of gas.

That too.

I wouldn’t over think it to much OP. As already stated wipe em down good, protect em from bumps and drive.

Are you moving to a neighborhood or a rural area where the transition from the vehicle to the house cannot be seen? There are more variables to consider than just humidity when moving firearms.

Ideally, you would pack the guns in sealed, nondescript boxes and move them in like that, if you are moving to a visible area.

I made an out of state move this year, used all my soft and hard cases, the rest in gun socks and layered between blankets on the backseat floor of my f150.

Pile them up in cases in the back seat, cover with a blanket and go for it. I have bought guns that were 600+ miles away and that is all I did.

Rent a small trailer, or like I did when moving 1800+ miles…..I loaded everything I had into a small camper, and headed to Wyoming! memtb

Don't move them in a car with a keyless ignition. They're too easy to steal.

Lots of good advice above. No mention of a safe(s). They’re not perfect, but I’d sure have one for that size collection.

Since we’re headed for stupid soon

Go ahead and scrape off your giant NRA life member placards, bassmaster decals, Tommy and Tammy Browning stickers on each door window, Real Tree Outdoors, 3ft Matthews Solocam bowfag stickers, etc etc

If your legal on both ends, you can travel between the two ,Make sure your insurance will cover, and many rentals will not allow transporting guns (uhaul hertz etc.)

I put them in the back seat of Ford Super-cab and drove through Illinois to get to new destination. Same thing second time. No problems on the trip.

That really is good advice. Of course it won’t matter if your pickup is painted Realtree.

I moved across the country. Put everything I owned in a horse trailer and took off. When packing the trailer I put the safe in first, wrapped all the guns in towels and sweatshirts(they needed to be moved too) and packed them in the safe. Everything else was loaded in the trailer around and on top of the safe. Trailer was packed full and would have taken an hour or so to even get to the safe if you knew it was in there. Everything arrived safe and sound. Even drove through Illinois.
