Get stale bread for Rufus, Midgett and Betty Crocker, her chickens…

Back when it was fun to shop and still could smoke in stores…

Mother would roll up into the Sunbeam day old outlet like Normandy invasion.
Those rolls they make Krystal burgers on, got them in 24 packs for about 15 cents. All went to our muscovie ducks and guard geese 😃

Then the bear claws, cinnamon rolls, Amana Radar Range to perk em up. and Wrasslin snacks.

LOL. Sounds like my Grandmother’s Saturday routine when I was a kid in the late 60’s.
Hometown had a very large Mr’s Baird’s Bakery/ Factory. Day old story was right behind the Factory.
Damn that place smelled good when you’ddrive by it.

A Mexico Corporate / Firm bought out Mrs Baird’s operations in the 90’s. They suck now.
The Factory and Day old store is long gone.m, now.

I remember when Hostess declared bankruptcy, they eliminated bakeries and added preservatives to allow longer shelf life. They were decent before, but I never eat them much now as they have an unpleasant aftertaste. It seems Tastycake has the shortest shelf life, and I do enjoy the cream filled butterscotch krimpets on occasion.

My wife bought some local Amish made creme filled powdered sugar donuts prior to Christmas. They were surprisingly good and like night and day compared to the highly processed packaged snacks available at the supermarket.

I never thought Twinkies were any good. Boomers go nuts over them and wax nostalgic about them.

Always seemed to have a chemical wd-40 or funiture polish twang to em. No thanks.

Me neither. 🤮

Grandmother I mentioned “stockpiled” them during the bankruptcy/ shortage. 🤪 A whole cupboard full. 😬

Guess eating them won’t kill ya, though.
She died about 3 or 4 years ago at aged 99. 🤪

Them Lil' Debbie cream filled oatmeal cookies are hard to turn away. The rest of it doesn't tempt me much. I can't remember what company made Suzy Q's but those things were awesome. Haven't seen them in a long time.

Got sick of those when I was a kid. They were Mom’s favorite.

My weakness is the Little Debbie’s Swiss Cake Rolls.
Use to demolish a whole box of them back when I was in HS. 😬

LOL ! I’d give it a try.

Loved me some Orange Crush & Grape Crush when I was a kiddo in the 60’s. 😬
