A buddy and myself are gonna run out to Kansas in late January. Looking for any tips or areas to try we have been looking 30-40 miles west of Manhattan. Open to any ideas.

Best Quail hunt I ever had was at Pine Hill Plantation in GA. Three days of shooting quail over good dogs, riding the mule wagon and riding horseback, eating like kings and enjoying the good life. They asked us on the second morning if there weas anything that we would like that they didn't provide in the meals and we said oysters. That morning they sent one of their people to Apalatchacola FL and he came back with a bushel of the best oysters I ever ate, They were still shucking them when we came back from the afternoon hunt. What an operation. They asked us what adult beverage we would like, 2 of us said single malt scotch and two said beer. They went out and bought a case of Glen Fiddish scotch and 5 cases of Sam Adams beer. We came home with soft sided coolers full of quail and memories that we will never forget.

The more I get to know people, the better I like dogs, life is short, eat dessert first.

Grew up 30 miles from there. Dad still lives there. He hasn’t kept a bird dog in 20 years if that’s an indication. Dad lives for bird hunting. Works out at 70 years old 5 days a week to keep up with us in South Dakota. There’s a few quail around. But i don’t know anybody that actively hunts them around here. Anybody with dogs just plans on driving 10+ hours or hunting tame birds.

Thanks for the reply. I hate to hear that! We are staying on 9000 acre farm so hopefully we will be able to get a rise or two. We are also hunting ducks and goose.

Ducks are finally showing up. If that place has some water it should be good, lots of ducks shot around there.

There will be quail. I’m just a Debbie downer from knowing what it was 25-30, 40 years ago.

Lots of ponds and swamps on this property. I’m
More of a quail/ pheasant hunter but I ain’t got a problem blasting ducks and geese. Packing for all aspects.
