Not a member but noticed my wildcat cartridge made it over there:

https://www.africahunting.com/threads/winchester-1895-in-405-win.67300/page-2

Please relay a few corrections to "crs" and other inquirers:

I created the cartridge because I'm no fan of stacking rimmed cartridges vertically especially not up here in Alaska. Also, the versatility of .410 swift a-frames and .410 pistol bullets for practice, is just a good match.

The cartridge is equal to the power of the .400 whelen, but with no fire-forming bllsht or expensive cylindrical brass. A fella can simply neck up 9.3x62 brass and be done. No fire forming. Obviously my options for brass far exceed the 405 or 45-90 brass availability.

Regarding its comparison to CRS's 45-90, no comparison there either. Our caribou hunting in open country often requires longish shots across 30 mph winds. The 350 grain spitzers bucked winds and were flat shooting out to 300 yards, when rifle was equipped with a scout scope.

It anchored a very large bull moose quicker than I've ever experienced with a 9.3x62. Feel free to quote this to the above mentioned thread.

Another .410 O&M will be made by reboring a ruger guide gun in 30-06. It has a thick enough barrel countour to do the job.

Well I guess congratulations are in order. It always feels good to leave a legacy of some form, that’s a good one to leave with the shooting/hunting world!

Nice moose, great rifles……thanks for sharing! memtb
