As long as the bore is decent I'm interested (priced accordingly of course).

A lot of guys looking for that infamous $500 788 30-30. Another poster, here, looking for a collectors piece, but he thinks they are only worth $650... If you guys set your sights a little higher, maybe someone would offer one up for a decent deal. Or, of course, you can look for a Savage/Stevens in the $300 price range. Even those are not going to be found, unless you know people. Happy new year to you too!!! Good luck finding a good cheap 30-30. Those 788's are like a needle in a haystack..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Thank you for showing your ignorance on my thread!! How is it that you know what I am looking for and what I willing to spend? I'd appreciate it in the future if you would keep your opinions and ignorance off of my classified postings.

I had a 788 that was nothing spectacular to the eye(are there any) but that dang thing would shoot cloverleafs with cheap green box 150 grain cor-locts! Good luck with your search. They are out there.

They are out there. I have a couple that are pretty easy to look at, and one is even a 30-30. As long as they are early models with the walnut stock they have a lot more personality.

In retrospect I should have posted ISO gunsmith special. I'm looking to shorten the barrel and a few other value reducing options to it. Can't bring myself to do that to a nice rifle.

You're not really going to cut the barrel on a 788 30-30....... I suppose it's getting a supressor too!
This makes me sad.
