I put a space heating in my cooler during the winter to store canned fruit, etc above freezing. I've tried any number of thermostatic controllers to regulate the temperature and NONE have lasted more than 6 months. I've tried Thermocube and several others. Seems that China can put a spacecraft on the moon but they can't make a simple thermostat.

Who has one that's proven reliable over the long run?

Ever consider that you probably just have a schitty insufficient power supply that causes your issues or do you think the entire world changes out their thermostats every few months?

It's a dedicated 20A circuit that runs a Coolbot and a/c during hot weather. Those have run perfectly for 7 or 8 years.

Maybe the climate inside the cooler is killing your thermostats. I would try an industrial one for refridgeration or heat pump use.

OK, so your schits perfect, it's a mere coincidence every thermostat you buy fails.

Just start buying them by the case so you can keep changing them out..

Brother Chuck,

Are you turning off the AC and cool bot while heating it?

Have used cheap digital temp controllers in cooler (fermenter) when brewing beer for a brewpub. Lots of moisture at times in a fermenter if yeast takes off too fast. Ha ha
Controller was in a dry area with only thermocouple inside cooler. Most cheap digital temp controls are rated for 15amp, but would wire in a heavier relay if drawing more than half that.
Would still check temps every couple of days or install a temp alarm in your cooler, just to be safe.

Grangers is where i got mine from.

It is a Dayton brand and the 2 i still have in use have been here since the mid 80's.

One runs the small heater in my shop and the other runs the heater at deer camp.

They have the ability to run hot or cold.

It is not a cheap piece of crap but was worth it.

Looks to me like only a probe should be on the inside, thermostat should be on the outside...
