I use a K&M carbide uniformer in a cordless drill instead of cleaning primer pockets.

On the first time, I typically will remove varying amounts of brass from some cases. RWS and Lapua brass being the exception -- they are so uniform that every case is the same.

I don't think there is any major improvement in accuracy, but perhaps it eliminates the odd flyer.

Mostly I do primer pocket uniforming because it is a carbide tool so it never gets dull, and it is a great primer pocket cleaning tool.

I have some cases I've probably treated 15 times -- nothing is amiss.

Uniform the flash hole once only and uniform the primer pockets each time the case is reloaded.

Never cleaned one, let alone "trued" one.

I'm with a number of other guys who use the Sinclair tool chucked into an electric drill. On new brass, it's always the flash holes AND primer pockets that get uniformed. After the 1st time, it's always the primer pocket. Makes for uniform seating depth of primers.

I've been usin' the Sinclair Tool for many years. I suppose there's lots of brands available out there now, but just havin' one saves bunches of time and energy and I believe it uniforms the primer pockets better than when attempted by hand only.

I use a primer pocket uniformer on new brass once then I only clean it. I smooth up the flash hole only once too. I do it all by hand while I'm watching TV.

I just started using one. I never needed to befor because all my primers would seat below the head, but when I bought some winchester brass and combined it with magnum primers, the primers would seat nearly flush but slightly out. the primer pocket uniformer fixed that.

I don't do a lot of reloading - or shooting for that matter, but:

Flash hole and uniformer both. Once. Neck sizing only of once fired cartridge, or with a very slight bump back, will likely improve your accuracy more than the first two. Especially with a belted cartridge, or one with a sloppy chamber on the rifle. I check every such round through the chmber before taking it hunting.

I have one '06 rifle with an asymmetrical chamber - I don't reload those brass, and in fact have never shot anything but factory loads in it. It gets 1.25 inch 5 shot groups with most 165 or 180 factory loads, and a LOT of use. If I do load any ammo for it from the numerous brass I have, I'll set the die to "neck size, using a once fired cartridge. be interesting to find out how it works, no?.

I prolly should rebarrel it, but.....dang, that thing kills good the way it is!

Yep, Sinclair reamer and a little Black & Decker cordless drill. Thakes just a second or two for each case.
