Nope. They build their houses out of driftwood and tar paper.

I worked down there my whole life. Most of my coworkers were from there. Most were good people.

My dad's Army buddy and best friend for life was an authentic Cajun.
Henry married a girl from up here after the war and stayed.
I met his family once, and they were the nicest group of people ever.
But they couldn't wait to get back home and I don't blame them!

Strangely enough we are in an exceptional drought right now in Natchitoches and surrounding parishes (counties). Got over an inch of rain yesterday but that barely makes a dent.

Lots of them. Pine timber is big business in the NW Louisiana hills.

There is a solution. We are losing population.

Born and raised about 20 miles north of Baton Rouge. I left in 1985, moving to Wyoming.

Once a pretty darn place to live, however in many places is rapidly becoming a 3rd world nation. Baton Rouge, a relatively small city (about 310,000), as yesterday already had 4 or 5 murders.

I have a lot of family and a few friends there. I wish that my kids, grandkids, and great grandkids would leave and perhaps have a better future for themselves. memtb

Spent one of my very early times living in Lake Charles. Dad was stationed at Chennault AFB and we lived not far from there. It is where I learned to climb a chest of drawers and make it tip over onto the bed. And I learned to fall out of bed whilst sleeping. Exciting place it was. Lived in Riverside, CA and Frostproof, FL before that, and Columbus, OH afterwards.

I am..........disturbed.

Not from there, but we always cut thru there on the way home from visiting Houston, TX

Go the The Best Stop in Scott, LA and get cracklins and boudin balls.
