Got to meet a neighbor yesterday.

Found where someone had cut the fence on the backside of a field of mine the other day. So we were out repairing that yesterday.

Towards the end of the day, I am working on the fence on the neighbor's side, backing up untangling wire when I hear someone holler out. I turn around with a bunch of wire in one hand and a pair of fencing pliers in my other and say hello. There stands a woman with her hands in her pockets and her daughter by her and she said, "I am just trying to figure out what someone is doing back here on my land." Her tone and body language was a bit harsh, imo

I look at her. Look at my hands full of wire and fencing pliers. I look next to where she is standing where there is a brand new brace built with railroad ties. The post pounder, post-hole diggers and a couple spools of wire laying on the ground by her and I think, she's joking a little, right?

I told her I was fixing fence. Someone had cut the fence and looks like they had driven through to steal some stuff off our mutual neighbor's place. She tells me again she was trying to figure out why someone was on her land. At that point I told her if that was her land, then this fence is OUR FENCE, and she is responsible for the fence also. And I invited her to help. Told her I would sure appreciate the help and she was welcome to pitch in. Invited her 3 times to help. Told her if it was such a big deal, I would gladly step across the line and leave things as they were and she could finish the job.

She just nodded her head no, shrugged her shoulders and turned and walked off.

Now I see why the guy that neighbors her is not a fan.

You should already know this from posting at the Campfire, but most people are idiots and a lot of them are a$$holes.

I have about a mile of fence with a new neighbor.

Went over to see them last week.


We aren't going to have any problems. Told them they could use my post driver any time they wanted.

She acts like a thief.......

A good state with good people is sure getting flipped over fast.

I wanted to offer a spare pair of gloves and fencing pliers, but I figured I had already reacted more pointedly than maybe I could/should have.

That's probably true.

Although we have had neighbors who homesteaded next to us that never...ever fixed fence.
