Spent the last ten days on Big Pine Key Florida.

We traveled to see the sights and even hand fed the bigTarpon at Robies Marina on Islamorada. This was fun and cheap! But there's not much in South Florida that most would consider cheap.

I have a buddy who owns a house on Big Pine so we save some big money on housing on a big trip like this...
BTW...It's a big trip to me.

Seen lots of Key Deer around the house we stayed in and those little scavengers are downright pesky and are almost as bad as coons when it comes to trash cans.
Visited the Southern Most Point for a picture and stopped by the HWY #1 ends road sign.
We also viseted the Key West Butterfly House.
We saw tons of wild chickens and thousands of tourists just like me.

Rang in the new year at Sloppy Joe's and Irish Kevin's in Key West

We tried to hit a bunch of good places to eat but mostly ate breakfast and a few suppers at the house via groceries from the local Winn Dixie

I'll put up a short list of the places we hit and ate at

Harriette's Restaurant...Key Largo...breakfast
No Name Pub....Big Pine...supper
Looe Key Tiki Bar & Grill....Big Pine....drinks
Mangrove Mama's....Summerland Key....supper
Hogfish Bar and Grill....Stock Island....supper
Two Friends.....Key West....lunch
Kermit's Key Lime Pie.....Key West....desert
Sloppy Joe's.....Key West...new years drinks
Kevin's Irish Pub....Key West....new years drinks
The White Tarpon Bar and Restaurant...Key West...lunch
Blue Heaven....Key West....breakfast
Keys Fisheries....Marathon...lunch

Glad to be home

It's a hard eleven hour trip there and a hard eleven back with lots of driving and a couple hours worth of flying.

Highly recommend a trip to the Keys this time of the year

Sounds like a great time. Lived in key largo for about a year in another lifetime. Love to go see how much it’s changed in 35 years

If you get back there I highly recommend a Blackened Grouper sandwich and beer at the Lorelei Restaurant and Marina in Islamorada while you watch the sun set and the fisherman come in.

Spent a lot of time at Key West for various training detachments, ACM, carrier qualifications, A-A gunnery, etc. As you found out there are lots of good places to eat but plenty of ways to get in trouble. 😁

I’ll add another “must” El Seboni for Cuban food in Key Wast and touring Hemingway’s house.

Glad you enjoyed your time in Southern Florida.

Thanks for choosing to spend your winter vacation dollars in the United States vs so many that head off to the vacation super walmart south of the American border.
