Ok, so there is a Marlin Super Goose 10ga a gun shop about 2 hours from me.

Something I absolutely don't need.

But damn, what an oddball gun and how cool would it be to pull that out of the truck for a nuisance goose hunt on September 1st!

Anyone have one?

Had a .12ga model when I was a kid that was taller than I was. Swung like a 5' chunk of pipe bolted to a 2 x 4.

Yeah. There's one around here somewhere. I inherited it.

They ARE a neat relic of another time (as are all other bolt action shotguns). Having a BPS 10, I can't think of a single reason I'd ever use it other than, like you, to get a reaction.

Picked one up at a gun show. Had seen them in the Shooter’s Bible, when I was a kid, and always thought they were neat. Guy had it on the wall behind his table, so don’t think many folks noticed it. He wanted $300. It was missing the magazine, but when he said he’d sell it for $250 (and I quickly figured out I could get a mag on eBay for $40), I jumped on it. It even came with the original Marlin leather sling.

Had a guy at another table offer me $500!! Probably should gave taken it, but it was kind of a “childhood dream”, and I knew I wouldn’t come across another that cheap/“justifiable”, again. Figured I should at least keep it long enough to shoot it.

Plenty of turkey ammo still available, but lead shot is otherwise hard to find. Some say you can shoot some smaller-sized steel shot in them, but I don’t want to risk ruining the thing.

Hope to get a turkey or a pheasant with it at some point. The looks/responses I got walking around the gun show with it, plus being something I remember ogling in a book as a 12-year old, made it worth the price…

A friend of mine had one in high school, he shot a fox at close range and it punched a clean hole right through that fox.

I don't know how special they are but kind of a novelty gun. Would add to my collection if I could get one cheap.

Admittedly….and with no reservations. I’ve bought Model 12’s for less, and seen the same for 870’s. Both of which are more practical and will outlast it.

However, it seems as if you can get a nice one for $4-500.
Go for it and post it up. If it makes you happy don’t let my opinion hold you back.
