Talk to Winchester. They have always helped. They look up the serial #, and let you know if it's been changed out. They should send you a new firing pin, and if you do it yourself, they used to give out a $30 gift card. Have you contacted them??? The last one I did was 5 or 6 years ago.

Yes - give them a call. Once they verify the S/N you'll be getting a little package..

Make sure the smith you take it to knows how to get the barreled action out the right way... years ago when I had mine done (Winchester was still honoring the recall and provided the firing pin directly to me to take to a smith), after realizing how the guy was about to try to take it apart, out the door we went!

Good... I've seen many of those come in with bent action arms from those who have NO idea how to properly disassemble it..

As of last year Winchester still honors the recall. You have to send the old one in with the serial number
They ship you a new style with a check for $35?, I thought it was more. Ive done about a dozen of them. Takes about 3 weeks to get the new one back. I did 5 of mine all at once as well as my dads, a buddies dad’s. I made enough doing it to buy another 100. Lol

I've heard of some guys breaking the stocks too.

Those stocks had such a thin area around the magazine section that they would crack/split rather easily.. IMHO Winchester screwed the pooch with that pos rifle..
