Too much JW. And if not careful, Eastwood starts to sound like a one trick pony. Give the two their due, but still many others that could place high.

Well you may not know this, but there's things that gnaw at a man worse than dying.

So many old Clint movies
Tombstone
Old Henry (newer movie, made it to my top 3!, must see)
Gunless (comedy, Can/Usa)
Yeah 3:10 to Yuma a good one with Russel

And Bale in another called Savages I think...pretty good too.

Unforgiven.

Then everything else, but to include, in any order you may wish:

Open Range
The Searchers
The Magnificent Seven
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Rio Bravo
The Wild Bunch.

Shane, 3:10 to Yuma (either), and A Fistful of Dollars are not top ten material. Neither is Tombstone, Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday notwithstanding.

Chato’s Land is not for everyone.
If we open up the category some, then Blazing Saddles is a shoe-in. Not Three Amigos.

That is all ...

I never could figure out why everybody always wants to include Shane and High Noon in these discussions.
Sure, they’re good movies, but we’re talking about GREAT movies.
Magnificent Seven, Searchers, Tombstone, Once Upon A Time are clearly great movies.
Unforgiven isn’t great either. Good yes, great no. And this is coming from a guy that admits to having a dozen Westerns in my top five!😀

No fans of True Grit or the Magnificent Seven here? Mr. Majestic might be my favorite Bronson movie but not a western.

I assume that the thread is targeted at movies, rather than series. But Lonesome Dove is great. Deadwood, to me, is as good as it gets.

My favorite Western movie not mentioned above probably is For a Few Dollars More.

The end of a few dollars more was good “No, old man. Thought I was having trouble with my adding. It's all right now”
