Anyone seeing reloader 15 on the shelves anywhere or seen any recently? A quick internet search says no.
Thanks.

Its probably ALL going to military contracts. They matter more than we do, to the powder manufacturers.

Military contracts my ass, your trying to claim more ammo is being used at the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan war just keep drinking the kool-aid. Get you some AA2520 it will replace RL15 ive shot both side by side. I would also give Viht 135 or 140 a shot

I would also give Viht 135 or 140 a shot Well Sherm, We don't know each other, but I do recognize your handle. your reply seems typical Campfire Aggressive, but out of respect I'll let that slide. I shoot a lot, so yeah, I am well familiar with 2520, and it being in the same burn neighborhood at Rl 15. Although I've shot a lot of RL 15, more than 2520, doesn't mean I haven't gone thru quite a bit of that in various calibers also. And yes, I am aware of its availability at a local Sportsman's Warehouse like many AA powders are, at lower prices than other standbys. I'm from SW Virginia originally, despite being an Oregon resident. But I do have family members that work there at the Radford Arsenal Plant, and according to them, a lot of their manufacturing capacity there under Alliant is going to military contracts, and a fair amount going out of country. So its not real hard to figure out where a lot is going that is going thru military conflict right now and has been for a while. Take that as you desire. Although you may have taken my post, different than intended.. which was a bit of tongue and cheek, there is some truth in what I say, based on what I just posted in the above paragraph. I am sure increased price and short availability to drive up prices, adds to the problem for consumers and a cash cow for manufacturers. Simple marketing strategies when they can get away with it. With government support or not being able to get rid of firearms, attacking and shortening the fuel to feed it..the same as they are doing with jacking up the price of fuel and trying people to buy electric vehicles at an expensive cost. Financially it gets private industries's support. Isn't that hard of a concept to understand. So in your second post, you give numbers... but in reality one can only draw a conclusion. What we are sending to the Ukraine, doesn't mean all that is left over, is being distributed to the American public. They can make less, but more profit by selling what they do make for 3 times the usual price. So everyone on their side the fence wins... governmental leftist DemocRAT dictates is all it is.

How much did the IRS get? 9.5 billion yeah right. In 2011 our military was using 1.8 billion rounds a year and no B.S like whats going on now, its not the military causing this [bleep] alot of the shooting community needs to look in the mirror for the panic buying and willingness to pay the B.S prices like 150.00 or more for primers. Dies toilet paper ring a bell. Ross Perot got it right years ago your watching the great fleecing of America at its finest the sad part is theres alot willing to take part in it. What is the difference now compared to 2011? Vista Outdoors. Does never let a good crisis go to waste ring a bell?

Seafire no aggression intended if thats the way you took it. The numbers just don't add up, there is virtually no Alliant powder on the shelves period does anything Vista have control over seem to be available you think that's a coincidence? When 1 company virtually controls80- 90% percent of the powder and primers you think they can't manipulate supply and demand?

Fear and panic buying started all this B.S and Vista pounced on the opportunity, why should they produce more of what they can suddenly start getting 3-5 times more for to not change a thing, profit margins in 2020 and 2021 tell the story. How come the largest egg supplier in the U.S profit margin goes up 700% in the " shortage". Were being taken for a ride plain and simple.

Anyway back to the original question for the O.P, AA2520 is a good replacement for RL15.

Anyway back to the original question for the O.P, AA2520 is a good replacement for RL15. Not that I've seen. RL15 is far more stable and consistent.

Its probably ALL going to military contracts. Yeah, where they store it in bulk to keep it out of the hands of lawful gun owners, back door gun control.

Anyway back to the original question for the O.P, AA2520 is a good replacement for RL15. IF RL15 is made in Sweden, (it says it is on Alliant's website) and IF it is re branded 203B, (it could be, Norma shows it adjacent to RL15 on their burn chart) then there is another choice that should work well...plain old BLC2, almost identical (within 1/10 of a percent on pressure and velocity) to RL15/203B. I have seen BLC2 in several local reloading stores, I bought a pound in Dec for 32.80, not bad.

I'm working on a load for my Kimber Montana using 75gr Gold Dots. I can't find any data for BLC2 with that bullet, either from internet users or Speer, and have some BLC2 that I'd like to try. Tried RL15 yesterday and it showed promise but I'm very low on it and it is extremely accurate with 95gr Partitions in my 6x45. I'm going to save what I have for that rifle until I can find more. Guess I'll have to extrapolate some data for the BLC2 with the Gold Dots. Thanks. Frank

Frank, google up Norma website, scroll down, there is, IMO, the best burn rate chart in the industry. It gives relative number assignments for both pressure and velocity. It is based on something we all can relate to... the base number is 100 for 4350 for velocity and pressure.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
