I used 165g in 30-06 to take a whitetail doe (not a great test.) It worked and was nicely accurate. As I recall under and inch for 3 shots.

You should post this in the deer hunting or big game section of the forum, not the reloading software if you want any replies.

For what ever reason I have the impression European bullet's for hunting are designed to fill the freezer and at very reasonable ranges. In this country lot of people feel the need to have a bullet designed to work properly out to extreme ranges! Fact of the matter is any bullet designed for hunting if placed properly will work as intended well beyond the range most hunter's are proficient at shooting. Two different accubonds, one designed for normal range shooting and one for long range. I get the idea the bullet designed for long range is designed to save the face of some long range shooter placing a bullet poorly!

I've successfully used Norma Oryx factory loads in several hunting rifles.
.243 100 gr. for Mule Deer, .30-06 180 gr. for two elk and a big black bear, and In 9.3x62 / 285 gr. for Kudu, Oryx, and Giraffe, and in 9.3x74R / 285 gr. for two black bears. Every time and in every rifle, the ammunition was accurate, met velocity specs, expanded very well, didn't mash too much meat, and the bullets I recovered retained almost 90% of their original weight while expanding more than 2 x diameter.
That pretty much defines "perfect" for me.
