In my whisk(e)y world saying something is equal to Crown is an insult.
Tasting notes for Canadian whiskey often go like this: Reminiscent of indifferently made grain alcohol, flavored with a bit of cheap artificial vanilla extract, and having been used to rinse out an oxidized aluminum can.

Kirkland booze is not allowed here in Texas or in Idaho. Because these are truly "free" states with free markets. Nothing to see here. Thanks to our Esteemed Governor we can now buy beer/wine at 10 AM Sunday morning. That's progress, right?? Don't pay attention to the fact that we haven't been able to buy hard stuff on Sunday since 1961 for some antiquated reason which has been lost over time.

Wouldn't buy it.

I was lucky enough to get batch 008 and a few of their single barrel offerings. Plan to open batch 008 when I run through some of my other open bottles.

Wiser 18 and 23 year are both great Canadian whiskeys. Hard to find.

99’s… i’ll walk back my unnecessarily brash comment and admit that my exposures to Canadian whiskey is very minimal…
I’m sure there are several that are mighty fine. I guess my comment stems from having to hear 100 people talk about how great crown royal is.

Canadian Whiskey has its place. It's the light beer of whiskeys, decent for mixed drinks and disinfecting wounds. Crown Royal is about as sweet as Coca Cola and mixes with it quite well.

Add some ice and coke and it's pretty good. Diet coke for me. I'm trying to watch my youthful figure.

I'm always a bit perplexed about the monthly "which whisk(e)y" threads that pop up here. It's about taste. If it tastes good to you, drink it. If it doesn't, don't. It's your money, and you only need to please yourself. As for me, WT 101 over crushed ice. Crushed, because I want it to melt quicker. <---WAIT, WHAT?! ICE?! NO!! Have at me. I don't care. Only when you pay for my drink will I consider drinking it your way.

Or maybe the OP not wanting to spend 30 bucks on something that others could give him a heads up on before hand. Kirkland booze doesn't advertise much or at all outside the store, & only then, they might say, "compare to".
They usually offer 2, if not more choices for each type of spirit. Bourbon drinkers here might steer the OP in the right direction or at least explain some nuances that the OP had in mind.
Had someone asked about their vodka I could simply say, the $13 dollar handle is as smooth as Tito's, taste/burns similar, made with corn as is Tito's & both, likely the corn base, hurt me a bit the next morning. OTOH, the $21 imported is very smooth, like Grey Goose & wheat based like GG. Less than half the cost of GG, a big win.
A lot harder to splain Kirklands Bourbon, Canadian, Scotch, & small batch offerings.
