I'm a 1913 Slut, due ring spacing being a scope's BEST friend. Burris Extremes play nice and mount low. Hint.
Just sayin'..................

I mounted a 3-10 SHV on a Ruger MKII long action last fall. It fit with regular rings but was really cranking my neck. Had to replace them with extended rings. Rail is not really an option on Ruger unless you get it drilled.
The Burris Extremes that Stick mentioned are my choice on a M70 in .375 Ruger with a very short tubed S&B 1.5-6. They would work well for the short tubed SHV.

I use the XTR's a lot, but that cuts into the OP's scope mounting length on his rifle, and he ain't got much there. Just sayin..

If you guys are talking the extreme tactical rings, those are wide mother fu ckers... The bases are fine though. I'd use a narrow ring, like the Burris Zee rings.

The bases were what I was referencing.
If possible, I prefer wide rings for greater scope tube contact area and the reduced chance of movement. As you mentioned, tube length/mounting area has to be considered though.
Burris Zee rings, are easily amongst THE fhuqking schittiest rings of All Time. Hint...................

Not a lot of room on my ruger with shv but they will fit close.
