Just wondered if anyone likes the Taurus .357's. I have one of the 605 SS 2" but, never shot or owned one of the larger framed ones.
Why do I have to press 1, for English?

Yep, a Taurus 66 7 shot stainless of recent production. It's a solid revolver at the price they were asking. The trigger isn't quite as light as a 686 but it's useable. Accuracy is decent. The finish is more of a matte as opposed to shiny.
I hear of horror stories about Taurus from time to time but my experience having hands-on with them has been positive.

I don't have recent experience but when I was a firearms instructor in the 70s, 80s and 90s many deputies bought Tarus .357 handguns and it was common for them to sieze up half way through our 50 round course of fire. I advised new officers not to buy a Tarus based on what I saw.

Yeah, the barrels fall off ! Heard of several cases where that happened with S&W. Of course, " I heard..." is completely reliable information. Gunshop and internet forum gossip makes for good stories.

I carried my 686 for 30 years and never had a problem with it. I still have it because my agency presents retireing our offficers with our carry gun when we retire.

Not a .357 MAG, but I've got a couple Taurus 441s in .44 SPL that have been okay. They are carry a lot, shoot a little, revolvers that are usually loaded with 2 CCI snake-shot cartridges and 3 hard cast lead SWCs. I've been using Mackey_Sagebrush's 240 grain 900 fps loads for awhile. Recoil isn't bad and they shoot good groups in the Taurus, a Rossi 720, and a S&W 624.
I recommend sending any non-collectible revolver to Ahlman's in Morristown, MN, to be tuned and to have the forcing cone reamed. This work costs around $185 and has improved every revolver from Rossi, S&W, and Taurus that I've sent to them.

I have 3 441s and 2 331s in .44 SPL. Never a problem with any of them. Same as 260guy I shoot a 240 hard cast at about 950 fps. Good combo.

Isn't the history of the Taurus revolver that they took over an S&W factory in Brazil that was there (along with a Beretta factory making M92s for Brazil) to provide Brazil with S&W revolvers, and just continued making the S&W revolvers at that factory after S&W left Brazil, but just marked them Taurus instead of S&W?
They did this with the Beretta factory, too, to continue manufacturing the 92 auto pistol for the Brazilian military under the Taurus name after Beretta left Brazil.

Buddy has a 605 he beats the hell out of.
No issues with it even after being under water several times

My nieces were given 85Ti 5-shot revolvers for college graduation. I gave them CT grips also. They still love and use them. I carry a 445 with hardcast for my fishing with bears gun. The bolt broke once after many, many rounds. Even broken it would shoot a full cylinder. It has about 50 rounds since it was repaired. I continue to carry it.

I had an 856 that had one cylinder where the brass would sit high and stop the cylinder from rotating. If I did not put a round in that hole it worked just fine. Sent it back to Taurus and in a few weeks got it back. Had a note that said checked and worked good with factory ammo. Still had the same problem so I sent it back with three fired cases that had drag marks from trying to rotate. A couple months later I got a new replacement gun back from them. No problem with the end result but I am still out $80 from having to send it back 2 times.
