Have a question for the members here. I have a Pedersoli Kodiak sxs rifle in 50 cal. black powder. I would like to have the barrels rebored to 54..cal. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I might start? I could possibly buy a new set of barrels directly from Pedersoli but I imagine that would cost me as much or more than I paid for the rifle many years ago. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rod

My only 2 thoughts would be Bob Hoyt in Penn. and Ed Rayl in WV. Hoyt is strictly muzzleloaders and knows his stuff. Rayl is good as well, but Iā€™m not sure if he limits himself to muzzleloaders.

Expect Mr Hoyt to have a back log. Call early in the morning before he fires up the machines.

You oughta see Bobby Hoyt's shop. Four rifling machines, several boring machines, barrels stacked everywhere, and an old dog underfoot. I was up there with a buddy in the fall to get my buddy's ratty .36 barrel freshened to .40 caliber. Bobby told us lead time was 3-4 months, but he called the next day to say it was done. Seems he had an identical job in progress and when it was finished he went ahead and did ours too while he had everything set up. Must've been a record!

He lined a '61 Springfield barrel for me back in another lifetime. It was a tackdriver afterwards.

He's a solid day trip from me. I might hafta ride up there one day soon with a ratted out 50 cal knight KP1 that I think should be a 58 cal roundball twist, pay him his fee, and leave him an address where to send when he gets it done.

Judging by map's street view, his shop isn't very big is it.......

Thanks for the reply guys. That rifle has been sitting for years and I recently started to become interested in it again. It is stupid heavy in 50. Cal but has plenty of meat in the barrels for a rebore. Maybe 58. Cal with a round ball twist. That should lighten her up
