They did away with the poll tax and as I understand it that was because it taxed the people for exercising a constitutional right. Maybe the same argument regarding guns & ammo taxation could be made on a similar basis.

You need to understand that these idiots know that it is unconstitutional, but pass it anyway because then they have their law in effect for several years before it is kicked out, during which time they can dream up more unconstitutional bs.

If you recall, Obama said as much once when he said it was a "negative document" that prevented him from doing what he wanted to do. Guess what that was.

Seems this will disproportionately affect the poor and middle-class. The rich can easily afford to buy ammo with which to end the misery of living in WA.

Since ink is used for printing newspapers, SCOTUS has ruled taxes on ink are unconstitutional.

By extension, taxes on ammunition are unconstitutional.

It’s not idiocy and they aren’t morons. They believe the right to protect oneself resides solely with the government. They don’t want you to have the ability to do that for yourself and making it more expensive honors the twin pillars of making it prohibitively expensive and Tax generation. It’s a win-win for them. Besides, you could potentially use it to defend against them and their nefarious schemes. Who wants that?

The suck part is if a large group of people do mop the place up and justifiably put a lot of hemp to work that will leave us wide open for a foreign invasion, meaning a lose lose situation. Might be very satisfying at first though.
