When people are hired, promoted or advanced based on anything other than their qualifications for that position, it makes it bad for others of the same race, religion, sex or ethnicity to compete and demonstrate their qualifications for advancement Examples are the White House press secretary, the latest appointment to the Supreme Court and the two Ivy League college presidents who just resigned.
