Saw what I thought was a Winchester 1400 12 gauge with Winchokes is great condition for $300. I brought it home and noticed it says "model 140". I never heard of that. I assume it's just a hardwood stocked version of the 1400. But this is a new one on me

Economy version of the 1400. Kinda like the 120 pump was the cheaper version of the 1200.

Thanks. That was what I figured. It's still a very nice gun. Vent rib, Winchokes and all

Keep the action clean. Once it starts cycling slow, pull it apart and clean everything.

Depending on field usage and shell cleanliness, expect 25-60 rds before you need to clean it.

I used a 20 gauge 1400 for years hunting rabbits in PA, and goldenrod seemed to cause lots of issues with the action. Also that thing cycled low brass Winchester ammo great, but struggled with Remington and especially Federal ammo. Reloads were out of the question.
