I have an opportunity to pick up a Glock 36 in good condition for a very reasonable price.

Comments from those with experience?

I find the 36 fits my hand well. The 30, 30s, and 21SF are too big for my hand.

I find myself drawn to the compact dimensions of this .45.

Thanks in advance,
Expat

Carried one quite a while when they first came out.
Accurate, reliable, and dependable as heck.

Went back to carrying my light weight commander as I shot it better, and I could carry more spare rounds easier with the Chip McCormick 10 round mags.

Sure wouldn’t bother me to carry one again, if it was my only option.

wonder why the Glock 36 fell out of favor was it called a Glock 43 and a 43x ?? not knocking the 36 at all just kind of a question

I'd go for it and give it a try if the price is good. I've always been intrigued by them, too, but never got around to buying one.

Hickok45 did a couple of reviews of them (Keep in mind that he's 6' 7").

I've carried and shot one for several years. Several carry guns have come and gone but never the 36. IMHO it's the best commander size 45 on the market.

Not sure what you call " a very reasonable price" but if you think its, like the feel & can afford it I can defiantly recommend ya get it. I had one for a good while & carried, shot it quite a bit. Like you, it fit my hand well.

I had one for a few years. I liked it well enough. Normal Glock reliability. It was very accurate. Glock .45s tend to be. My issue with it was that the trigger guard rubbed my middle finger knuckle raw, and the slide would bite the web of my hand more than any other Glock I owned. My carry gun is a Glock 19, so I sold the 36 to a friend. But it's a fine gun if it fits your hand. If the price is decent, get it.

I had both a Glock 36 and a 30 SF, and I kept the SF and got rid of the 36. The 36 was just too big a gun for what I got in terms of capacity. But, you said the 30 and 21 are too big for you, so I understand the rationale for the 36.

Nowadays, the Sig P365 XL is basically the same size as the 36. I'll take the capacity and ease of shooting of the XL any day. P365 XL v Glock 36

Fortunately, we all are not limited to just one gun. So, there's no reason not to try it if it does not pose a financial burden. Get rid of it if it doesn't work out.

Thanks for the feedback, Gents. I have carry options in .38+P, .357 mag, 9mm, and .40. The G36 will be added to the stable. For me a draw is the manageable size with 7x 230 +Ps (250 cast?) onboard. Another draw is the fact that it is a really different pistol compared to its Glock Gen 3 siblings.

Best regards,

I carried one as an off duty for about 5 years. It was good in that role but I opted for the G43 and G27, as my primary off duty carry pieces. The G36 went down the road for some other purchase. There was and is nothing wrong with the G36. I would buy and carry one again.

If you like the way it feels, but it. not enough mag capacity for my tastes, but if you carry a spare or 2 you’ll be well armed. Some 230 grain HST’s and your set.

That is how this is happening. Bought the pistol and now will buy ammo, spare mags, etc. I have carry options in 9mm and .40 for when I think I need more rounds available.

I really enjoy mine and never have a problem carrying it, accurate and reliable, it is in my rotation of carry guns.
