I have a 6 inch M48 and it's a fun gun to shoot but as others have said it's a bit loud. A great companion piece to the K22's. Holsters are easy to find.

Ya reckon a K-22 cylinder would work in a M-53? They both K frames. I have a K-22, not sure I want to play with it like that. Curious if anyone has done so.

DF I don't see where it would hurt anything to see if 1. It actually fits and functions and 2. If it does, check alignment of the bore and chambers. My guess is you'd be more likely to pull that off with guns made today than with guns made back in the "good old days" of hand-fitting, but you never know.

The 53 (and its 22 cylinder) are M-19 length; longer than the 17, 18 and 48.

Pacecars: I am offended by and strongly recommend against YOU drilling and tapping that classic revolver! What next, drawing a mustache on the "Mona Lisa"? Sheesh. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy She does have a little hair above her lip😜

I briefly had an M48 back in the late seventies. The first six cases would work and eject just fine, but the next six would start to bind with the last few shots. Then I had to drive them out of the cylinder with a cleaning rod, one at a time. The ejector wouldn't budge them without punching a hole in the skin of my hand, and beating on the ejector rod is not good for the crane. Clean the chambers and the next six worked fine again. No big deal if you fire a few shots hunting and then clean immediately, but I had to have a cleaning kit on the bench at the range, which became a PITA.
Mine had a 4" barrel, so set a new definition of LOUD.
I do like single action 22 mags. They have an onboard ejector rod, of course, to eject cases one at at time. Much more pleasant for plinking. I own a Ruger Super Single Six today.

It’s your gun. You can D&T it if you like. I haven’t kept up on what’s available for no drill mounts for K frame Smiths but there used to be some available. S&K I believe made one.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.
