If anyone knows a tribal judge or whatever they are called on the Jicarilla, see if I can get my 270 Weatherby back? It’s been several years since they took it.

Why’d they confiscate it ??? Have several friends that hunt the Jicarilla. They’ve never had any trouble.

I was hunting 2B and I knew I needed to cross the rez on a FS rd for about a mile. I verified I wasn’t loaded ( one in chamber) and slipped it in a soft case in the back seat.
Tribal warden is waiting soon as I cross into the Rez, told him what I was doing , and he asked to check for loaded weapons.
Well that Weatherby had 3 in the magazine, he said that was a loaded firearm on Rez land, and started telling me how he was going to write tickets for all kinds of stuff and I would loose my truck etc etc.
He wrote one to me for a loaded weapon on Rez land and took my Weatherby as “cash bond”
I decided the bastard could keep it I wasn’t risking going to court!

Damn. 😂

I used to always fill up my F-350 with Diesel at the Rez station in Dulce when headed to Fly Fish the Quality Waters below Navajo Damn. On the San Juan River.
They were the cheapest, and always friendly there.
Never saw so many Indians with new pickup trucks with new 4-wheelers in the back. Figured the Jicarilla must be Rez Heaven, compared to all the other reservations I’d been on. 😬

What’s the deal with the Rocky Boys Casino north of Box Elder? I was surprised to see it where it was.

When you drive by there, the Indians aren’t out of bed yet…

Can the tribes in Montana purchase private lands and then incorporate the new purchase into sovereign nation status?
I know they lease BLM lands and you don’t want to be caught on those leases by them.

Idunno, seems there could be a workaround in there somewhere.

They'd just be expanding their reservation.

The current Montana casinos suck, they need a full casino with all the bells and whistles and no $800.00 limit on a win like they got now.
