I know this is a long shot but I’m in need of a 8x57 jr reamer. This would be the smaller diameter .318 bore version with a rim. Will rent or buy out right from someone

I have an old German single shot that has a chamber that is just a few thousands short of chambering.

Thanks

Long shot for sure. At least on this side of the Atlantic. I wonder what the neck diameter of the "I" cartridge is? If...a big if, it's same as "S", it wouldn't take much effort with a tool post grinder to take an "S" reamer and grind a pilot to fit your bore diameter. All you need to do if I understand correctly is move the shoulder forward a few thou?
No matter what you really need to get a good chamber cast, anything without those dimensions is pure speculation.
If all the ducks miraculously line up, and you could grind the pilot, I have a Serbian made brand new 8x57 IS that could be bought for 80 bucks.
Wait, stop...maybe not...a search is underway.
Found it.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Thanks, I did chamber cast and it confirms that it’s a 8x57 jr with .319 bore diameter (not .318). It shows it’s roughly .010 from being deep enough. The gun appears to have been completely refinished and what I can only assume happened is whoever redid the gun also put a larger hinge pin in close up the action (it’s as tight as a brand new gun) refit the barrel but didn’t recut the chamber the extra depth afterwards. If I can’t find exactly what I need I’ll reach out to you on that reamer. Thanks

I have a message sent to them to find out exactly which reamer that is. I assume it’s the js bore not the j bore but they don’t have any specs on it. Thanks!
