Gents,
Rather than waiting for a Alumahyde II to cure fully the natural way (2 weeks recommended), I'm toying with their alternative method of 195* for 3 hours. My only question for someone whose done this before is: does it put off a chemical smell? (My only oven option is inside the house.)
Thanks y'all.

Yea, it smells. Smells a little like divorce papers if you get caught!

With a multi metal part gun, part steel and aluminum, I normally blast then coat both parts at the same time so they match. Carekote gives a way better and lasting finish. With no odor when cured. Alumahyde has an odor I can smell.

Never tried Alumahyde but, Rustoleum and oven works pretty damn good. Cheaper too.
Why do I have to press 1, for English?

I've done Alumahyde & Ceramacoat in my kitchen oven and did not detect any odor - certainly not anything that lingers.

It works well. You might want a little ventilation but if it's a small part it's not bad at all. I've cured it on an outdoor grill, also.

I love Alumahyde II but it is one thing I will not apply and cure inside the house.
I can't imagine heating it makes it smell any better.

It occurred to me that I live in a warmer climate than most of you, so leaving a window open is no big deal most of the year. Hence me not thinking the smell is all that bad.
If it's a riflestock I'll hang it in front of a small space heater (cheap type with fan) and leave it a few days to a week. Seems to take a month with no heat to reach full hardness, maybe more.
For metal parts mostly I'll just have my local guy cerokote them, anymore. But it's nice to have a few cans of Alumahyde around.
Also...I spray it outside. Even spraying a little bit in my garage makes the garage uninhabitable for a few hours.
