My buddy shoots the 22-250 in RAP and he says it's his favorite calling rifle and he's got a lot of them. It's not his nicest or most expensive but he loves it

I was informed last night that I won a Ruger American Predator in the caliber of my choice. I'm flush with rifles in the 243 to 300 Wea. mag. range and was thinking 22-250. Anyone have one in this chambering and if so, your thoughts. It would be the AICS magazine version. I have one in 22-250. It has a 1/10 twist and I shoot 60 grain bullets out of it. It is an exceptionally accurate rifle. It's not the prettiest but it does what it is supposed to. I have not converted it to an AICS magazine but it appears to be an easy fix. kwg

I have one it .223 and put it in a Boyd's thumbhole feather weight and it shoots lights out. I smoothed out the ripples in the chamfers of the bolt channel and it operates much better. The bolt action was really the only flaw in the gun.

That 1:10” .22-250 would be mean with 53 V-Maxes.

Huntsman,
Does that boulder on the end of that long skinny barrel not affect your shots? Just asking because I’m interested in purchasing a suppressor myself.

It does not affect accuracy at all. But the weight out there changes the POI about .7 mils low at my 200 yard zero.

I really like my RAR-P in 204 RUG. I bought it back in 2015 when you could buy them for between $350 and $400 out the door all day long. Mine has the old rotary magazine and feeds okay, but will occasionally jam if I'm trying for a double on a coyote that runs off a way after its partner gets shot and stops to look back. The one thing that I don't like about the 1st generation RAR-Ps is the low stock comb, but a Beartooth comb riser kit is a cheap/easy fix. I've had around 2 dozen RAR-Ps and have spent money to swap stocks to Boyds Heritage style, but exercising hindsight, I would have saved my money and just bought the Beartooth comb riser kits.

Probably more than anyone wants to know but the raffle was for a Ruger American Predator in the caliber of your choice or $500. The shop had 3 in stock, all with rotary magazines, two 6.5s and a 308. They had a hang tag of $499. Owner said he’d order any other caliber and when I asked for the price he said $459. OK. Maybe the Gen 2 is lowering the price or him not having to hold on to it and dicker. I chose the cash but may have him order one for me as I am flush with 308s and have a 6.5.
Anyway. Thanks for the information
