Our 'Latino' Lab found this guy over the weekend about 50' from my shed/building. He had good potential, a split browtine on one side along with a kicker point. None of the neighbors have admitted to losing it. I would think thats not a young deer with the formations of the antlers. May have lost a fight and got rib poked.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Thanks, glad to see it. Was a little leery about opening it. Thought it might be a link to that pic of Mom

That storm was intense. I had to cancel some work plans on the ‘Slope because of it. I also had to dig out my wolverine traps in the Whites. They were either on bare rock, or under 4-5 foot deep, rock hard drifts. One was closer to 10 feet deep. It was a long day.

The TInCOCK is bored…. SW Idaho cat. Small Tom if I remember correctly. We let the local rancher’s kid kill it. The aftermath of an incident in Chamberlain Creek about midnight one time, on a solo backcountry summer fishing trip. My horse stepped on a soft part of the trail and down we went, rolling over each other for several turns. I truly believe that stock breaking saved my leg from doing so and we were WAY back in there. Luckily the pack train I was leading patiently stood on the trail waiting for me to climb back up there. General season, public land buck that I never saw before or again. He haunts my dreams. Wintertime white-tailed ptarmigan. These things will humble you, simply due to their habitat. It can be dangerous if you’re not careful. This pic has been thrown around a few times, so I apologize if it is repetitive. Still one of my favorites. Pucker factor pegged at full!!!

My baby. 1991 Cummins. All original except for the paint. Manual 5 speed with granny low and 165K original miles. I am technically the 2nd owner, but it has been in my immediate family since being brand new. North Slope ‘bou from the Central Arctic herd, off the haul road. I was a wee bit tired once I finally got him out. Snow covered tussocks SUCK ASS. A bonerific sight, after 12 days of packing moose meat with no shower and no beer. One of the easiest physically, but unique hunts a guy can do, IMO.

It’s called “full service”…..once. Her fur is pillow soft with a hint of Bengay….i shǐt thee not. Just rub whatever hurts in it. Nirvana. Peace. Thee wholey sea.

Bitches…. Sub-legal rams The one that got away. Oh well. The one that didn’t get away… Another. God I love shooting these things. I’m like a kid in a candy store when I spot a legal griz. I’ll squeal like a little girl with excitement.

I love the truck. I've been instructed not to covet though.
Musk ox. Did you eat him? Any good?
interior grizz I imagine? any good to eat? AK requirement to salvage all meat like some other species?
and ditto to Sammo's comment
'slave. I think I'll take your word for it regarding the BenGay aroma

interior grizz I imagine? any good to eat? AK requirement to salvage all meat like some other species? Yes and yes. Yes. One was very close to the border that B/C uses to distinguish between griz and Coastal bears. The other was a true, interior mountain griz. Yes (though I have only taken meat when they’re eating blueberries). No, AK doesn’t require griz meat to be salvaged, from sport shot griz at least. I still will take it, or some anyhow when they’re ‘blueberry’ bears. Not so much when they’ve been on gut piles or winterkill.

Thanks all. A guy has to live with the cards he’s dealt, but also enjoy life. I’ll never be one to look back and say ‘I wish I had…’, despite my fair share of challenges thrown my way. Christmas Eve. The wind was relentless but what a view. Lake trout from an unnamed pond on the North Slope. England, hunting on property owned by the Queen’s cousin, or something like that. That makes me royalty, right? It was another easy hunt. Not much of a challenge but that was OK. It was fun.
