Guy sends me tracking info for some material (he sends it Jan8). It arrives inside state lines and it hits the north distribution center 40 mins from my house on Jan 10 and it's stuck there. Currently says "moving through the network and on it's way to the next facility". I go to TWO different post offices and no ones seems to help.
I get the rundown from the post master about how the weather messed up everything and that it's a transportation issue. They basically push me out the door and don't offer any assistance; don't give me a number to call, they don't email anyone or make a call for me, basically tell me that if it doesn't arrive in 30 days I need to file a claim. However, I send stuff through FedEx and UPS all the time and HARDLEY EVER have any issues. Anyone experiencing problems with the post office lately?

I ordered something out of Nebraska on the 12th, to be delivered today the 19th, shipped via USPS.
Tracking shows it left Bellevue and hit Omaha on the 13th, on the 17th tracking shows "in transit to the next facility".
Today's tracking update shows it arrived back at the same distribution center....in Omaha.

I always have problems with them Unfortunately, they're the only option in this area for me to utilize. That's the problem with everything in the nation right now. Can't fire anyone for incompetence, and can't hire by merit and experience ( which is how all jobs should be filled)
The last few things I've sold and had to ship had a vacation tour of sorts, stopping at the various depots and "logistics centers " instead of a direct route
IMO it's so as many USPS employees can lay hands on something to justify their jobs as essential
My 2 cents

They have ONE fuc king job to do.....and after 249 years of existence, they STILL can't do that ONE fuc king job correctly. There are 7 different distribution facilities in Omaha plus the main one. So I doubt its the same one. Heres the life a letter or bill sent out to an address 11 miles from me. Drop off at PO. Then goes to Columbus 32 miles away, then it goes 115 miles to Omaha where it kicks around the distribution centers for 3-4 days. From there it goes 150 miles to G.I at which point it gets loaded on a truck after 1-2 days to go 31 miles to CC to the PO for delivery. ~ 300 mile trip to go 11 miles. Now that’s efficiency.

Yes they’re ok usually ,but during Holiday season fall off sharply probably due to volume.

I ship a lot of stuff, and use USPS exclusively. The disappointment is nowhere near what some people seem to complain about…

rather few considering

Where i live is rural area and if you order from amazon they are only using the usps for final delivery so i have to make a trip to p.o. To pick up anything from amazon. I try not to order from them anymore for that reason. and what the heck good is free prime delivery if i gotta go get it!! Anyway i said that to say our p.o. Is backed up with pallets of amazon stuff everyday slowing up the normal process.
Be reasonable. Do it my way!

The storm in the middle part of the country screwed up.lpgostics big time. We use all the carriers, about 25K worth a week and everything is backed up. It'll get sorted out.

I’ve had multiple incidents the past 60 days, all priority shipments. The package is supposed to arrive on a certain day. That day comes and goes and the package remains in transit to the destination, and will be arriving late. Then no updates until the last moment, as it arrives, several days late. I sent something cross country via UPS five days ago. That one arrived a day early. The usps is just another government entity that is totally broken due to government mismanagement.

Just hope and pray you don’t have to go to bat with usps over insurance claim. Pack and tape it twice as well as you think it should be

I've not got any mail delivered since Saturday. We did get about 5" of snow and some more ice but, don't they have a motto?
Why do I have to press 1, for English?

I prefer USPS to UPS or FEDEX. Usually quicker and with less problems.

We do mostly overnight or 2nd overnight, usps is wholly unreliable around here.
I sent a check by usps to Tim Olt for a knife 2 years ago and it took 6 weeks for him to get it. If I recall correctly, he got it the same day the second check I sent him arrived.
Usps could be eliminated and I would be a lot happier.
