Found a rooftop rack with 2 kayaks strapped to it. It was pretty windy that day.

Haven't found much--a Snap On box end wrench. 9/16" on one end, 1/2" on the other. That was 45 years ago. I still have it.

Picked up a brand new Werner 4’ painters ladder a few weeks ago. Saw a ladder that was damaged badly then a couple miles another one then a third, the fourth one was unscathed. I can only imagine a truck must have left the back door open.

When I worked road construction, we did a pile of work on the Pa Turnpike, used to find piles of stuff as you can't exactly turn around and go back. Found the biggest Crescent wrench I've ever seen there, probably 3 foot long, gave it to a buddy as I'd never use it.

I’ve found lots of great stuff…….earliest score was a truckers heavy canvas taro back in the late 70’s. A fair amount of hand tools; best of them was a Mac 3/8” drive spark plug ratchet. More recently a high quality trolling rod, reel and condom like thing for protection. $100 bill in a birthday card on my lawn on a rainy garbage day. A bunch of cell phones and three wallet's, all were returned.

Gotta be careful on the side of the road of course!

25 years ago I was heading down the gravel road to the highway, as I crested the hill I saw something fall off the trunk of the car that was turning out onto the highway. A complete 1/4" SAE snap on ratchet set, I stopped and picked it up, I still have it.

Not really a 'lost or found' story, but . . . My dad carried all his ammo to deer camp in the old lunch box he used before he retired. The season was over and he broke camp, loaded up his pickup, and headed for home. When he went to empty the pickup, he found his lunch box right where he left it, on the back bumper of his pickup. Couple of boxes of 270 and 12 ga unscathed after the 65 mile trip home. I told him he wouldn't be able to to that again if he tried.

I found a pair of Ray Bans in the sunglasses compartment on a rental car back in ‘15.

Thought about turning them in, but I figured I needed a pair of misplaced Ray Bans at least as bad as the girl at the Avis counter.

I figure it’s Karma for all the pocket knives I’ve lost.

I hope their former owner found something nice to replace them.

When I high school we lived on a corner. Our mailbox was there. While checking mail through the years found a generator . It bent the crank when it landed. By the time I put a new crank in it , I was in the hole. Never would idle or rev good. Took it to a few shops and nobody could fix it. Finally sold it for less than the crank cost. One thing that found and still have is a Case Bowie knife marked XX. I think it has a bear etched in the blade. Years later I found the sheath at a gun show.

Found an 18" pipe wrench on a blacktop last week. Found a glock 19 on a bench at the range. Not exactly on the road but close. Called a buddy on the SO and waited for him to come and get it.

I found a 20' log chain on our high line right of way. I gave it to a friend who had a bulldozer.
Last year, the day after Thanksgiving, we were driving home from CT and a metal detector fell off the roof of the car ahead of us. it skidded down the road and up against the jersey barrier on the left shoulder. No way I was going to try and retrieve it in that traffic. My brother is all the time picking up ratchet straps on the road. I told him there's a reason their there.

Lost a point & shoot 35mm camera with some
once-in-a-lifetime photos on the roll of film.
Lost house keys on a lanyard around my neck.
I can only guess the lanyard frayed and broke.
Shirt pocket contents while riding back from
a motorcycle get-together.
Headrag flew off on IH20 on the way back
from the casinos.

Found many things
Most recent a like-new 11mm combination wrench.
In the past- many tie down straps and nice ropes.
Good pieces of PVC pipe
A long handle Matco 3/8 ratchet
Different sockets without number
( has anybody figured out where all the 3/8 drive
10mm six-point sockets go to? Extra terrestrials ?)
Assorted rod/reels
Many gas cans
A freight train load of milk crates and 5 gallon
buckets
Lots of hypodermic needles and assorted dope
pipes and paraphernalia tossed out while fleeing (?)
Coupla knives
Partial bottle of Astroglide
Nice roll of chicken wire
Coupla decent coolers.
A leather motorcycle jacket some years ago
with a keyring and keys and a partial pack of
Marlboro reds and about 35-40 dollars.

Many other things I can't recall

Years ago I commuted about 35 miles to work, much of it over country roads. On one of those roads there was a location for jump scales that were used to catch overloaded trucks trying to bypass the scales on I-5. One day, about 1/2 mile from the jump scales I saw a bundle (20 sticks) of 30 foot, 1/2" rebar. They sat there for 2 weeks until I finally picked them up with my trailer.

When I was a pre-teen exploring the backroads on our bicycles, we found an unopened case of Hershey bars in the ditch. Score!

At the end of the day a Duck hunting buddy left his SKB O/U on the roof of his Jeep Wagoneer at Fish Point managed waterfowl hunting area and drove off. The next day he got a phone call from the area manager. A good samaritan came across it and turned it in at the area headquarters.

We took MIL and 12 yr old SIL on a shore fishing excursion up the Lake Huron coast from Linwood to Singing Bridge.
Couldn't find my tackle box when we got home. Think I left it at the Au Gres river mouth boat launch fishing dock. Big smelt run at Singing Bridge and one of the dippers caught a whopper brown trout. He held it up for all to see in the Coleman lantern light and a deep voice from the back of the crowd said "OK, Now put it back." DNR undercover mingling with the dippers.

Found a bloody Buck 110 folder on a two track Rifle River state game area access road.

Paddling on the Crystal River in NW Michigan with no. 1 daughter coasted over a wallet lying on the river bottom. Back paddled and she scooped it up. Full wallet with Texas drivers license, cash, and credit cards. At the take out there was a fellow resembling the license photo....saved his family vacation!
