Good evening; I recently acquired a model 1895 in 30-40 Krag. The rifle is missing to bolts from what I can tell. I need to identify these bolts so as to try and source them. Any assistance would be appreciated. I posted the pics on image gallery as I don’t know how to get my iPad to make smaller images. Thanks again JR
The hole in the side of the receiver in the first picture is from a Lyman 21 sight that has been removed. If you don’t have the sight nothing need to go there. The screw missing from the second picture is the sear spring screw. If it’s missing then maybe the sear spring is gone too? Homestead parts is a good place to check.
Thanks for the info. I suspected a Lyman 21 sight was there. Have been on eBay and other online sources, but they are hard to come by. Providence tools make a repro, but an original would be nice. I need to learn how to disassemble the rifle and check for the sear spring, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. JR
Should be able to see it with the buttstock removed. If you do a complete teardown of the action, the magazine is a bit tricky to reassemble and a slave pin will help align the front screw. This video will give you a good visual of disassembly.

Hard to say for certain, it’s advertised as such. Seems to be a bit much for shipping though ….. $10!! You might give Homestead parts a call. They show a screw “set” for an 1895 that includes a sear spring screw. Maybe they’d sell an individual screw?
