The lawmakers have redefined assault rifles to, at the least, cover the AR-15 platform and at most include most semi-automatic rifles. Then they make laws banning these guns. I think the Supreme Court clearly outlined in DC v Heller (also reiterated in Bruen) that the Constitution protects guns that are commonly used for lawful purposes. What worries me is that the Supreme Court declined to block the Illinois Assault Weapon Ban. What’s up with that??? Justices won’t block Illinois ban on assault-style weaponsMy question to everyone is not what the Supreme Court should do. I think that's obvious (especially when asking a web site full of gun enthusiasts). I'd like to ask what you guys think WILL happen to these "Assault Rifle" Bans that are going into effect in more and more states. I really thought the Supreme Court would have jumped at the chance to stop these bans once and for all. Protect Illinois Communities Act (PICA) needs to be struck down for multiple reasons. They are banning “assault weapons” and grandfathering in existing guns with a gun registry. The government can’t make a gun registry according to subsection 103(i) of the Brady Act. Federal Gun Registry Prohibitions

Marbury v Madison doesn't matter if the Supreme Court won't even hear the case.

The Supreme Court said "the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to possess firearms independent of service in a state militia and to use firearms for traditionally lawful purposes, including self-defense within the home." Antonin Scalia.
The 7th Circuit Court is ruling that self defense is the only legitimate use of a firearm. They rule that the AR-15 is not a good choice for self defense. There's many problems with this. 1. the Supreme Court didn't say self defense is the only justifiable use of a firearm. The AR-15 is commonly used for target shooting not to mention hunting. 2. The government presented experts that said handguns are better for home defense than an AR. That's no reason to outlaw anything other than what the government says is the best option.
The 7th Circuit Court also says military grade firearms are not protected. Yet the "text, history and tradition" the US has never outlawed firearms just because they are used by the military. Quite the contrary, there is a history of military surplus firearms being sold ever since the beginning of the US as a country. We've always been able to buy military firearms chambered in .30-06 and .45-75, which are much more powerful than the 5.56 that the AR platform usually shoots.

there are no constitutional gun laws, all fed. gun laws violate the 2nd and 10th amendment of the constitution. all state gun laws violate the SC case of Marbury vs. Madison which states "Any law repugnant of the constitution is null and void".

Myself I think the biggest problem all along has been in the people that keep and use firearms. Everyone of them calls the AR 15 and rifles like it assault rifles, why shouldn't the law maker's? What they are is semi auto rifles that seem to be favored in military cartridges! Go back before the M-16 and how many assault rifles were capable of full auto! Shooter's going around agreeing with the law makers are their own worst enemy! So, is my 1903 Springfield an assault rifle? I think what has never been done and what needs to be done is clearly define the term, assault rifle! Of course that will not stop the idiots we have in government! The only thing they favor is banning something they don't understand! Don't mention it but during the civil war, front loading cap and ball musket could have been called assault rifles!

You can attribute the quote to me.

The left is everywhere. This forum is full of idiots who think that the government wants to take guns, but not their guns and they vote as if the rules won't apply to them. Can't believe how stupid dem gun owners are.

[/url] I would suspect they will get hidden behind the door and actually become assault weapons at some point. I don't have any of those type rifles, to ugly for me. But if it came down to it and I needed to protect myself, they would work better than my bolt action rifles! All the ban will do is create even more criminals! We have laws that you can't shoot anyone just because they are an ass hole but even though it still happens. We have laws that convicted felons can't have guns but they have them anyway! Laws will always be ignored sometimes even by honest people!
