I am looking to trade my LH 788 for a LH single shot bolt gun in 6mm/.243 or 6.5mm is also a possibility. A Remington, Savage or ????? I've never owned any rifle that wasn't a Remington from the mid-sixties to the late seventies. Great shooting rifles from that era, but that leaves me some homework on other brands.
My rifle is in good condition. A couple really, small chips and small dents in the stock, some bluing rubs and scratches on the barrel and bolt. The recoil pad is pretty hard, so I assume it has been on there for quite a while. I am not the original owner, but I'm old enough to have been. I get compliments at the range and people ask me "what the hell is that a left-hand bolt with right-side eject?" I tell them if you're a lefty you would love this setup.
The rifle is being traded along with new Hornady brass (50pc) / V-max 58gr (80pc) / Nosler 55gr ballistic tip (70pc) / A Lyman two die set and 2 magazines. Components are to get you going.
A second stock (walnut), made by Show Me Gun Stocks in MO is included. The barrel channel has been hogged out for a heavier barrel and the action/trigger was inletted (not by Show Me Stocks). It all bolts together, but the inletting was poorly done. A local gunsmith in Tucson made the stock functional so that it is not kindling anyways.
FFL to FFL. Let me know what you might consider for a trade. (The target was a 25 yd sight-in for the scope. Not 2-3 shot groups at 100)
