Streamlight Protec 2AA. 250 lumens on high, plus low and flash features that can be programed. I have one in each of my 4 autos, 2 in the tool boxes and a few spread around the house.

They are dependable and reasonably priced.

Flashlights using AA batteries are never a good thing hint.
Go ahead and purchase one with rechargeable battery.
Amazon has a cheaper version that last a long time but I'd go with a Streamlight Pro Tac 2.0.

Or Amazon Ultrafire WF-502B / rechargeable batteries.

What happens if I don’t have the ability to recharge the battery?

I carry this while hunting.

Pocket light + headlamp covers all i need.

I use the premium duracell ( not lithium, i forget what its called).
Ive ruined flashlights with cheaper batteries….

I use NiMH rechargeable AA and AAA batteries. I will never put a damn alkaline battery in anything again. They have ruined SO much stuff over the decades.

I have numerous lights from Streamlight, Pinceton tec, and Maglite. They all make flashlights that should suit your requirements.

A question though.... How bright is "bright"? Some of the lights now are similar to stadium lights... BRIGHT. These generally run on cr123 or 18650 type batteries though.

I used to carry streamlight products, but Ive had a few go wonky lately. Especially the “programmable” ones.

It's 2024, time to start using rechargeable batteries. Check out killzone, they stock a lot of flashlights/headlamps. 10% off your first order when you sign up for their newsletter:

If they don't have what you want, check out Sofirn, Fenix, Lumintop, Nitecore, Acebeam, Convoy, Astrolux, Thrunite, Olight, Imalent.

How many lumens do you really need to navigate through a dark forest ?? I have a 2 double AA that puts out 100 lumens. I have found it to be more than enough to get around and the batteries last for hours and hours.

LED flashlight bulbs are old technology. The newest technology is for LED Chips which are 75% more efficient and brighter. That in conjunction with the newest rechargeable batteries that use USB for charging. Thing is most American manufacturers haven't gotten around to it yet.
