Another I sold, actually just sold the barrel & scope, & repurposed the rest. Stainless 700, bolt replaced, timed & tigged, 22" Bartlein 8" twist Carbon barrel, McMillan Game Warden Edge fill sans paint, Leupold VX-5 3-15x44 in Seekins stuff. Chambered in 6x47 Lapua. Built another carbon barreled gun this fall out of an 18" X-Caliber 6mm 8" twist. Also chambered in 6x47 Lapua. And then sold the barrel........

Q makes an Acra plate for their rail interface. I like this. How is the accuracy on these? Pretty good but not great, though I have only ever shot mine suppressed and subsonic with factory loads. At some point I need to work up some hand loads. The trigger is top notch. Thank you for the reply.

22 Creedmoor and 6mm Creedmoor switch barrel. Feeding is flawless. 6mm CM is the carbon fiber one.

I am not much of a predator hunter, unfortunately, but I do have a few suitable bolt guns for such endeavors: Left to right: Rem 700 SPS ADL, .223 Rem, factory barrel cut to 17" and threaded, Ti take-off stock, TriggerTech Rem 700, 22 CM, #3 Brux 1-8T, fluted, cut & threaded at 22in, Grayboe Outlander stock and bottom metal, Trigger Tech Barrett Fieldcraft .243 Win Kimber Montana .223 Rem Kimber Adirondack .300 Blk Those are good looking rifles.

I have a variety of 223 bolt guns from Marlin, Remington, and Ruger. For a walking varmint rifle, the 700 LVSF barreled action in a McM Hunter stock is my favorite. For a colony varmint rifle, the 700 VSF barreled action in a McM Remington Hunter is my favorite. The 223s that get the most use are Ruger American Predators, 'cause they are always in a vehicle and always handy when a target of opportunity shows up.

Whatever brand and model you decide on, have you considered a 22-250 that you can load down to 22 Hornet velocities for small game and quiet shots for calling in close, so you don't blow out the country when you shoot? You can load mid-range/.223 power loads as well. One of my 22-250's has three loads that shoot w/o any change in scope settings.
Around here coyotes normally run in packs. They hunt spread out in a line and flush rabbits and game then communicate by yipping to drive food to each other. If you shoot a quiet gun you can normally call several in before they wise up, but if you shoot one time with a full power load- they gone.
A suppressor would be great for this as well.

A suppressor would be great for this as well. Unfortunately I don’t reload, but I did consider a 22 hornet. I just wonder how good it would perform on a big coyote at 200 yards. A lot of the reason I want to get a new gun is so I can suppress it though

I need some influence for a new boltgun, show me your setups in the comments. Along with your photo, tell me the make, model and what stock you have on your gun (if you swapped the factory one out) The ability to mount an ARCA plate to the fore end is really my only requirement. I don’t believe it’s necessary to spend $5000, I’m looking for a high VALUE rifle. I’m pretty set on a 223 because I’ve had very good success with the Frontier BTHP ammo not blowing a holes in coyotes and bobcats. I want to get away from this almost 13 pound boat anchor I have current https://instasize.com/guZTmCUErIXuK...c51ab8ec0ed0db580ca65d66566b251bf4d92291As mentioned numerous times already - Tikka T3 or T3X in 223. Just put on the scope of your choice and go shoot. Unless you spend a lot of money on a scope you can come in at under $1000 for the whole package. I have owned them with 8, 10, and 12 twist, all have shot 1/2" to 3/4" five shot groups at 100 yards with 40 to 55 gr ammo (handloads), no reason to think that the Frontier won't work just fine in it.
223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

What Drover said.
Get the non-fluted Tikka/barrel so when you cut it down for the suppressor you have a place for threading. You can upgrade to a better stock if you want, but not required with the Tikka factory.

Hard to beat a Sako Vixen for the 223 cartridge family. The action is scaled appropriately for the cartridge, light and quick handling. I finally had to replace my factory barrel and went with a 9 twist PacNor. I’ve bedded the action and floated the barrel into the stock and adjusted the trigger to about 2.5#. It’s a dream to carry around and shoot. With scope it’s around 7.5lbs. That and a pocket full of ammo and go have fun.
I had a Tikka in 222. It shot well but I disliked the one size fits all action for that size of cartridge. Yes, it works but a 458 Mag size action for a 223 is silly IMHO.

I could put up one of these TCs with carbine barrel - quite light, handy and accurate. Are you referring to the TC ventures? No - just the original Contender frame with longer stock and some Bulberry carbine barrels in different cartridges.

Q makes an Acra plate for their rail interface. I like this. How is the accuracy on these? I *want* to like Q because I prefer to support 'local'. Unfortunately, that same local aspect becomes a negative due to known negative interactions with the owner. I won't detract from their products since I haven't owned one......and won't.

What has he done around the locals? Seems to rubbed the sniper hide type crowd the wrong way. I bought a q full Nelson ‘cause no one likes him. 😂

I just use my 25-06 Rem 700 CDL with a 6x Leupold and 115 gr handloads, either Berger VLD or Nosler Ballistic Tip. Same bullets I use for mule deer hunting. Same zero. Same rifle. Figure it makes for fine field practice with my primary hunting rifle. Rough on the coyotes. Regards, Guy
