I stopped buying preference points in Colorado after they started holding the full license fee. Someone told me they changed the process to be similar to Wyoming where you can just buy a point for a fee. Is that true or false?
Thanks, Bill

True, it was a long time ago so you have missed a bunch of points

Thanks! I bought a deer point in 2020 when I burned my elk points. Thought they held my money then but not sure.

It is being considered to go back to paying up front for the license, and then refunded after the draw minus application and PP fees.
It’s pretty obvious in hindsight the current method of charging the CC once drawn led to a significant increase in applications, and consequently a huge jump in PP’s.

I wouldn't feel so bad about if I was applying for a license. Didn't think about the jump in PP's though. Thanks for the info guys!

2025 is when the new rules changes, whatever they might be, will come into effect. One more year of the status quo.

Colorado stopped upfront payment of license fees a couple of years ago. They get hit with the credit card fee then have to refund the whole dollar amount. They were losing over $250,000 a year in cc fees. We’re taking it without a reach around by having to purchase a small game license at $90 for the privilege to pay a $10 fee to apply. I’m happy to be able to buy and apply. No sour grapes here, just damn glad to be here! LOL
