He does mention Ulzana’s raid in passing. One of the few Westerns to focus on expert trackers facing expert trackers trying not to be tracked, and issues of managing the endurance of horseflesh.

The Culepper Cattle Co. is also worth a watch. Doesn't seem to get played much on TCM or Grit, though.

Bite The Bullet—I watch it any chance I get. Big Jake—Richard Boone makes a helluva bad man.

One of John Wayne’s last movies, “The Cowboys” deserves mention.

The Professionals is also underrated. Lee Marvin is great in this type of role. So is Robert Ryan. Jack Palance playing a Mexican outlaw, well, it was the 60s... In the top 3 on my long running list. That movie is just done so well. Tactics, specialist, modern weapons for the day & correct for the period. Yep, Professionals.

The only knock on it is Lancaster overacting sometimes, even though in his defense, his character is supposed to be a little nutty.

Not sure if dances with wolves or last of the mohicans falls into category but top notch and the revenant? Dances is good. Mohicans is an eastern!🤪 Not sure I agree with that. Remember, when and where it takes place was the west in that time frame. Yeah, I know. Picky picky picky. PJ

Our forefathers did not politely protest the British. They did not vote them out of office, nor did they impeach the king, march on the capitol or ask permission for their rights. ----------------They just shot them. MOLON LABE

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.
