Deer season has been "over" in my mind for weeks now, but went out this weekend for one more Freezer Queen as the official season wrapped up.



First blood with that little .350 Legend CVA (165 Hornady FTX). Through and through on a heart shot at 70yds or so with a 30yd death run. Like using a .22 centerfire, it's odd to pull the trigger and have such a mild report/recoil. Seems to work though, as a lot of friends here killed their deer and hogs with CVA Legends this season.

nah, I'm still in a sling from shoulder surgery. Our PT place is shorthanded so next appointment is not until the end of the month, and it seems my surgeon wants to take a conservative approach so I don't fudge things up doing too much too early.

I've been trying to catch some of the bucks in the neighborhood bachelor herd but they still appear to be hanging out with the does/fawns. Saw a herd of 11+/- this morning run off into the BLM land next doo with at least two bucks mixed in. 100+ yards away so no chance with the phone to get a good pic. Tried a video but came out really grainy. Bucks will be shedding antlers soon.

The ice is pretty sketchy and is hollow underneath but I am still scratching a few out. I just set a new pond today. This pond is almost exactly a mile hike in. Tomorrow could suck.
