Funny this came up as I just had a follow up. For reference, I'm 55.
Feb 23 - PSA was 4.1
Oct 23 - PSA was 4.4
Dec 23 - biopsy - results Gleason 6 for 7 of 12 samples. Meaning very low grade cancer (some docs don't consider it cancer) but higher volume. Doc was all about surgery but wanted to do testing.
Sent samples out for genetic testing - results indicate very low (0.25%) chance of metastatic cancer if treated. From this and per doc. I can either do radiation, operation, or watch-n-see. I'm doing watch-n-see, retest PSA in 6 months.
I'm still going to explore treatment options but don't need to do anything quickly. Doc is a cutter so that's what he wants to do. I don't like the side effects - incontinence and ED. Radiation seems better with lesser side effects but I went thru a lot of rad/chemo 10 yrs ago so that may not be an option.
Anyway, all that to say there's typically time to digest what's going on and get 2nd, 3rd, etc opinions especially with low scores.

Mine decreased the last 12 months from 4.0 to 3.4. Hurray!

having sex will run up your psa.
I had a urology appt one time.
My wife woke up before me and I evidently had an erection.
We were having sex before I was awake enough to remember my appt.
Oh well, my doc said my psa had jumped since the last few times it was checked.
Then it hit me. Sex temporarily increases PSA.
When I told him, he smiled and said "we'll check it again next visit." Good to know👍👍

Two of my younger brother's (I have 6).
Had b the cancer. Both told their doctor to just take it out. 2 years ago doing fine.
My last PSA went down. From 1.5 to 1.3.

Interestingly, one of my providers told me that every man dies with prostate cancer, it was just a matter of the degree of cancer. Sure was a good way to get my attention. Nobody has ecer said that again. Good luck Wabi, I'll keep you in my prayers.

I have had 2 close friends die of prostate in 70's both had unlimited $$ to do all the fancy treatments. maybe bought them a few more years but at a price of feeling like [bleep]. Both didnt start treatments until psa was high.
another friend who is 60 got it a few years back at a high level but contained. he had the docs wack his nuts off and remove prostate as that cancer needs testosterone to grow. he is still fine. wife is ugly anyhow.
