I use to love this time of year ...I would go to the local book store looking at magazines to see what new rifles were coming out and going to Hendershots in Hancock Maryland to get the manufacturers catalog .....I must be getting old as I havent seen a gun that interested me as a hunter in years...maybe I have everything I need but everything is so far from what i think of as a hunting rifle anymore

I just bought a new to me "minty" BDL in 7mm Rem Magnum. I get it back from the gunsmith tomorrow (Leupold 3.5-10x scope mounted in Talley rings, Decelerator pad and trigger set to 2 3/4 lbs) will post before and after pictures this weekend.

Regards,

Chuck

I need to get to Hendershots. They aren’t very far off my commuter route.

Gotta agree, within my price range anyway. The new MRCs look promising, but it’s a bit early to jump in that pool IMO, and the odd M-lok (or whatever) slotted rail in the bottom of the forend looks like it would be a catch-all for all kinds of crap. $2500.

I like to look, but am pretty well-equipped for an old fat man with my FC and a couple of tricked up Howa Minis. Have some 98s too for those days when I’m felling Fuddy. I’m more likely at this point to acquire an interesting range toy or shotgun than futz around setting up another “deer rifle”. Nice old Mausers, M70s, and falling block single shots are always attractive to me too.

Guns went to schit at the exact moment in time that "price point" came into the vernacular.

Speaking of new rifles, WTF are the Remington Alphas hiding? Not even mentioned on the website. Looked around and saw SA models for sale at various places for about $1900. Need to see one in person before I’d jump. JB got to shoot a couple at an industry event.

i get excited for a new to me used rifle with a nice wood stock ,i am kinda a nut for Ruger #1`s, Savage 99`s ,Winchester model 70 pre 64`s and even Browning BLR`S. but these new plastic stock black rifles puts a bad taste in my mouth just by looking at a black plastic stock rifle ick.

Same here, seekins, Sig cross, waypoint, S20… not for me.
All the cheap crap doesn’t interest me in the least.
