With Texas once the fedgov starts squeezing them?
You know those phone calls and meetings are occurring right now, as we speak.
You KNOW fedgov is squeezing all levels of state govt and representations right now.
"We'll cut your money off"... "That bill you wrote? Forget it"... "That powerplant that will bring thousands of jobs to your state? History. Won't happen."
How many will stick?
This is the thing FedGov fears more then anything else. There's nothing they won't do to nip it in the bud.

The problem is you have states that won't stand with TX but the people of the state do.
Look at almost any county election result map of MI/WI/MN etc and the usual suspects apply. Urban cities, reservations and union strongholds make a state pop blue while 99.5% of the state is red.

"ND stands with Texas"
No word yet on what that really means though.
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

Montana can't cover the loss of Federal dollars for Texas. LOL. Texas can cover loss of fedbucks for Texas. Will Montana stand with Tester and Biden, or do what's right for our nation? It's like making a deal with the Devil. The Devil will offer 5 years of comfortable living, but the small print at the end of those 5 years says you will be broke, destitute, and reliant on a centrally powerful govt., and will be subjected to loss of freedom, starvation, and WILL obey at all cost any dictations. Or you can take your licks up front and start to move towards improved life for your kids and grandkids by not making the deal with the Devil. Which do you choose?
