I know where a mossberg single shot rifle in 223 is for sale, iv been kicking. Around about buying it to have it rechambered Any suggestions? Guess I'd have to stick with the AR type shells, maybe 400 led. I did like the 25/45 sharps ,also Do like 50 Bewulf!

Look that puppy over real well and try the trigger before you jump into it. Consider a CVA or Henry to avoid all the drama and possible trouble, plus save you a lot of money. That CVA is really a bargain.

Are you referring to the Mossberg SSi?

If I remember correctly, the triggers were heavy.

I had one in 30/06 when they first came out. Pros: it was a good looking and handling rifle. Cons: It did have a very heavy trigger and only ho hum accuracy.

I have one in 223 and in 243. Nice looking rifles. Neither one used. I need to dig them out and test them.

Just looked online at pics and all those look a Hell of a lot better than the one I saw once in my LGS. That one was priced pretty high for those days, $750 IIRC, and while I like SSs, it did nothing for me. Read about the trigger and accuracy issues later.
I suppose that long receiver might give good support to the barrel, but reminds me of a Savage 99, not in a good way. IIRC the logo was cast into the receiver.
The TCRs were much better looking and are worth looking for if you like orphans.

I checked out the site, yesterday, it looks good shape, bushnell scope, opened and locked it trigger felt pretty good. But dam that thing was very heavy! Not sure if they made a bull ,Varmit barrel, what it seems to be, in 223 cal. Pondering it.

I have an SSi in .223 AI. I'm sure it was not AI when it left the factory. The biggest issue is the trigger. It's heavy. I'm thinking 7 lbs in that range. I'm pretty sure it is a 1/9 twist. I haven't played with it for a couple of years but would like to get it out when the weather warms up and look for an accurate load. The gun is well constructed and seems pretty sturdy but the trigger is the only down fall I can find.
