I guess I don’t understand why he writhed for two minutes? Was he paralyzed but consciously suffocating? He was trying to hold his breath That, and he was tied to a gurney, with a mask on, knowing what the mask was for, high stress level, and likely elevated adrenaline........ Should just rig a cell so that it can be just randomly administered, slowly reducing the O levels till subject passes out, then just dump in the N..... But I'm no Dr, and would like to think that they thought this through.... I think that was one of the original "gas chamber" ideas. They would place the condemned in a cell and would gas them when they weren't expecting it. But for whatever reason, that didn't become the protocol.

The should put the prisoner in a tight fitting tube, then pull him out by his feet until just his head is still in the tube.
Then take a pair of sharp tongs and insert them into the base of his skull and open them up to expose a cavity to his brain.
At that point insert a hose into the cavity and suck out his brains until his skull collapses and finish removing him from the tube.
Pretty sure Dems would have not reason to object to this method of execution. This^^^^ Dang. You get the reference? My first thought was Starship Troopers but you might be referring to abortion. P
Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

And less mess! I don't mind that it takes decades to put these animals down. They live each day knowing that they do not control their lives and the end is coming. Let them suffer. Just icing on the cake. I believe, the speedier justice comes - the more of a deterrent it is.

We can euthanize pets thousands of times a day effectively and painlessly but we can’t figure out how to get rid of the worthless trash clogging our prisons? GMAFB….firing squad works as does hanging. Who cares how some worthless scumbag dies?

With all the fentanyl they are confiscating at the border why not give them a hot shot and be done with it? If its good enough for addicts its good enough for death row inmates. And saves tax payers a few bills. Been my thoughts for years, ever since the drug companies quit selling the death cocktail to prisons. I'm even soft hearted. Give them the juice in 3 shots, Fun/ happy, Nod off, Turn off.

I'd bet Ol' Sparky doesn't take anywhere 30 minutes - and the guillotine is even quicker.

I’m not in favor of the govt having the power to kill us b/c I don’t trust the judicial system or lawyers, judges and juries, but i think giving these convicts a copy of the sports illustrated swimsuit edition would be punishment enough.

Bad vs less bad vs good vs better vs best... who really cares as long as it is effective. Cheap, fast, and predictable lethality certainly move you to the right of the scale. Easy is good in a world of mistake-prone mortals. Visible to the masses is a good thing, IMHO, to inspire good behavior in those who respond to fear.
The noose and guillotine checked those boxes for sure. Probably made balancing the budget a little easier as well and smaller law school classes to boot!

Need to take the fanfare and ceremony out of capital punishment Dig a deep hole. A group of guards take the prisoner to the hole. One pops them with a 22. Dump the carcass in the hole. Cover. End of story. Nothing to see here. Move along ladies and gentlemen.
The opportunity for a media sob story and martyrdom needs to be taken away. There's already some social media dingaling boo-hooing about how Alabama "murdered " a man

It sounds like either this Nitrogen hypoxia or the firing squad are the only 2 that are 100% effective with little to no chance of error.
I wonder what the protocol is during the firing squad if the condemned miraculously survived the first volley. Do they fire a second or does someone step forward with a pistol and give them a tap behind the ear?

Nitrogen sounds like the perfect method for execution to me. Cheap, painless, guaranteed to always work.

Hanging is cheapest Good rope lasts years, probably as long as the building. real problem is cost to the taxpayer supporting a convicted killer, all those years. Woke judges w/o balls to apply law is also a problem

i think giving these convicts a copy of the sports illustrated swimsuit edition would be punishment enough. After 36 years in the Big House, even looking at Martha Stewart would get the juices flowing.

I wonder if carbon monoxide through the mask would be better/quicker/less objectionable?
colorless odorless tasteless and stops the oxygen transfer.
go to sleep and don't wake up?
isn't that the story with bad furnaces, etc?
...Actually Sycamore, you are sort of right....

You can't desire the constitution while ignoring the one about cruel and unusual punishment. There's plenty of humane ways to put down animals and this was likely one of them. Unfortunately, we have a lot of members that conveniently forget that Constitution they talk about. Just remembering the parts they like, when they are convenient.
