Velocity testing results:

S&W 1&7/8ths" J Frame: 750 FPS

S&W 4" K Frame: 828 FPS

Ruger 6" Security-6: 859 FPS

This is what I personally use as both my carry and practice load. It penetrates straight and deep. Many may not know this but most JHPs even those marketed as short barrel loads will not reliably open up out of 1 & 7/8ths" snubby barrels. The penetration and performance is erratic. That is why so many experienced professionals who carry snubby revolvers choose to carry full wadcutters. The deep straight penetration is reliable and the lighter recoil of the wadcutter aids in shooting performance.
